Cece is sophisticated and worldly. Not because she has had successful jazz performances in glamorous places in the US , Europe, and elsewhere. For those of us who have known her beyond the stage, we bear witness to a woman who is surprisingly earthly and wholly engaged in her experiences. She is sophisticated because she knows how to appreciate a sunset in Golconda, Nevada, she can turn a pile of ducks into a festive meal for friends, and has enjoyed an intimate and almost magical relationships with every animal she has known well. She has an enviable connection to life, which comes forward in her singing. And in sharing this connection, makes everyone who hears her feel more alive than before.
Excerpt from Generation4Boomers: "A familiar voice around town over the past 16-years, CeCe has developed a true following as one of the premiere singers of our region. With a focus on jazz standards, it is not uncommon to catch her performing at a local venue or casino showroom, engaging audiences of all ages with her personality and vocal appeal. In short – CeCe is widely entertaining! Relaxed and savvy on stage, CeCe did not always sing professionally and it is even more difficult to comprehend that she was once inhibited about using her voice to sing. Having moved to Nevada 25 years ago to work in the Artist in Residence Program in Dance, CeCe was encouraged to sing by local professionals. "I didn't know I had it in me to be a vocalist," she reflects. "That is why it is so liberating and joyful to sing now.""
"CeCe is a storyteller. Her earlier studies in dance have clearly found their way into her approach to the song and jazz music, for she, like the dancer, attempts to get inside the sound in order to discover what the sound has to say. She attends to the jazz lyric with the purpose of communicating its power and beauty in word, rhythm, phrasing and tone. Distinctively, she listen to what the song ultimately has to say. Translating this, she consistently presents refreshing dimensions of a song's verses in such ways as to convince the listener that it is a song heard for the first time, even though it may be a familiar jazz standard."
"...she has successfully managed to situate herself where art and entertainment intersect, establishing a harmony of effects that neither diminishes nor detracts from the other, but rather enhances and informs each domain. An art form unto itself, Ms. Gable comfortably abides between the two, and in doing so, has given her audiences unique and sometimes startling entryways into many jazz works- musical forays that both broaden and educate one's appreciation for and enjoyment of the breadth of the jazz genre."
CeCe Gable and I have worked literally hundreds of gigs together. I consider "The Chanteuse of the Sierra" a top notch singer of jazz standards and high-end tunes. She does so with a unique and artistic style. Her flair, charm, and personality radiate in everything she sings. It's always fun to work with the Chanteuse!
Dear CeCe,
I wanted to thank you for the marvelous performance at the Robert Z. Hawkins Amphitheater last month. You really WOWed the audience of some 1000 people. It was amazing to me that our amphitheater which has only 400+ seats was required to admit almost 1000 people (for grass seating) to hear you perform.
I noted hardly anyone left at your brief intermission and that is certainly a credit to the entertainment value you supply. On behalf of the Hawkins Foundation and I am sure the Artown organization our thanks for making that Monday night such a memorable affair.
Dear Mr. Carano, I would like to commend you and the Silver Legacy for the excellent "Jazz in the West Wing" series in Sterling's Steakhouse. Having known CeCe Gable for years, my husband and I traveled to Reno to see her perform last Thursday night. While we were initially hesitant of a casino restaurant serving as a quality venue for a jazz vocalist, we were delighted with the entire evening. The jazz menu was outstanding, as was the service. Above all, Sterling's was able to preserve the warmth and intimacy of the CeCe's performance. Thank you for providing us with an evening of CeCe's jazz. We will return as often as time allows.
Gable is a Reno and Northern Nevada treasure. A fine musician, a charming host for an evening of song from the Great American Songbook, this chic lady brings glamour to her work and a no-frills approach to lyrics and musical line that gives each song its very own moment supreme. Gable’s is a warm, yet really quite plaintive sound that fits in perfect tandem with all she sings. Read the entire review.
Gable's a jazz songstress who is a frequent local performer and is known as one of the premiere jazz singers on the West Coast.
CeCe has the capacity to take me out of my "space" and into a new perception where love and life and passion dance around me. When CeCe takes the microphone, she transports me... and the emotions she shares open a place inside of me that helps me move through my life and see new possibilities. Jazz is a storytelling medium and CeCe tells me stories I want to hear, in the way I most want to hear them. She is more than a jazz singer. She weaves magic into my life if I am willing to listen. I find myself sitting in the great space she has created and not wanting to talk to anyone while she is singing, making me feel like I'm at a private concert.
Did you know that there is a jazz phenomena in our midst? CeCe Gable is one of the premier singers in our musical sphere. If you have had the pleasure of attending one of her concerts, you have experienced the vocal ease of a jazz artist who not only knows her craft but also touches your soul with her's, truly a musical adventure.
Ce Ce has gathered her favorite musical friends to create a tour de force of classics and soon to be classics. This is a winner.
Gable uses her scrumptious, velvet-laced voice to belt classy, steamy torch songs made popular by big bands.
CeCe has a voice and a style that unlocks the gate for a mystical journey of the inner self every time her throat graces a note. There is something about the quiet confidence her delivery of a lyric embodies. You know that when her eyes are closed in melody, she sees the pathway to everyone in ear-shots soul and embraces the moment with compassion and warmth.
Performer Ce Ce Gable is a singer's singer and her new CD "You Are Not Alone" is a must have for every jazz or cabaret enthusiast. Covering vintage songs from the past 30 years, including some that one might not expect and are expertly re-worked with heavyweight instrumentalists, Gable of Reno, NV proves that she is indeed the 'Songtress of the Sierra'!
Knowing many of the vocalists in the big band era personally, in addition to hearing them sing and enjoying the top stars at The White House in the 50's and 60's has certainly given me a broad background in popular music enabling me to appreciate and judge fairly accurately how good a particular vocalist really is. It is with that background that I rate CeCe Gable as one of the best, if not the best female vocalist I have ever watched perform. Her voice is beautiful to hear, bringing forth every emotion from love to sorrow to pure joy. She puts her entire self into each song, making you want to sing along with her. She bubbles with enthusiasm, identifying with other musicians and the audience and seems to be truly enjoying her performance and wants you to enjoy it with her. A true performer!
